Back to reality.

Well, I haven't blogged in awhile 1) because I haven't been particularly crafty as of late, 2) I'm too lazy, and 3) because my head is completely overloaded with MATH. Don't get me wrong, I love math. But, I am currently taking a week-long workshop on grades 7-10 math concepts. On top of that, I am doing two weeks worth of coursework for both of my masters class (which would really be like 4 weeks worth since there are two classes. see how good at math I am?). Now that it is Wednesday and someone else did some of my homework, I am feeling much more confident that I can complete my final papers and projects before we leave on our cruise. Which is awesome. Anyway, enough blah blah.

Here is what has been happening:

1. Kitten almost has a name. We've had her a month. John is doing this to torture me (remember, I said he could name her since she was a surprise). I think he likes my top pick but doesn't want to name her that since he's "punishing me" for bringing her home without permission. She's not growing much, and I'm okay with that. Definitely is 100% kitten mode.

2. Being more active, which includes elliptical-ing, zumba-ing (as usual), and zumba wii-ing. Also, walking. My goal is 900 minutes of walking in August. That is 30 minutes per day, elliptical included. So far, so good.

3. My gallery wall is slowly but surely coming together. Missing still are the two square frames. No photos added, but I have definitely decided I like it.

4. More cat time. Carlton is putting up with kitten more. It's cute to see them interact and follow me around all day. Carlton likes to watch me play zumba wii with his judgmental eyes. He is hoarse right now from a cold and it is funny to hear his smoker-meow. Kitten likes to follow Carlton and get caught on dresses in the laundry room.

5. Did this a while ago. Called "water marbling." Look it up on youtube. Could definitely stand to do more subtle colors next time, but it was fun to try. Since I'm so girly.

6. Long time, no see Snoqualmie Falls. My mom and I had a date and came here with our matching Black Tea Lemonade. Then we hit up Famous Footwear and scored a sweet sale + buy one get one 50% off on matching white Pumas for the cruise. and Zumba. We are so cool.

7. Home-grown Zucchinis are a success! Check out that beauty up there. This is numero uno of dos. Stay tuned on the yellow squash and corn, they have yet to make an appearance. Good job, John.

8. Used Heartsy to get this handmade, one-of-a-kind circle scarf from Tea Rex. And holy-crapoly she posted a bunch more cute ones since I bought... Boo.... Soooo. fun. Decided this school year is all about simple, flattering clothing with fun accessories! Because I'm so girly.

9. And finally, another project I haven't completed. Someday it will be stained in "Kona Brown" and will have something artistic painted on it and will hang on our landing. But until then... it doesn't.

Your weekly fix of cute

Yes, I have become the obsessed cat owner. But mine is so much cuter than anyone else's! Just kidding. I just adore him and I couldn't be happier with our decision to get not only a pet but a cat. Carlton is perfect (puurrrfect?) for our schedule and he's like a dog in that he loves being around us! I tell John everyday how nice it is to have a buddy around the house. John doesn't disagree.
Today I was folding clothes downstairs and Carlton wasn't having it. He didn't want my hands on the clothes - he wanted them on him! He kept walking all over the clothes and jumping at me. Very cute.

Isn't he so good at posing?

Also, here are some equally adorable pictures of my sister's new puppy, Otis.

Notice that he's usually not awake.

Happy Friday all!

The man in my life

He likes to lay in my arms and have his belly rubbed.
He likes to sleep next to me.
 He likes to do yoga.
 He likes to stretch out.
He likes to hang out with me and talk about our feelings.
He likes to hog the couch.
He doesn't really like to play.

He's my perfect little snuggle buddy. Right now he's curled up in my arms. I'm sure none of these pictures are by any means rare kitty poses, but we are completely enjoying being first time cat owners. John and Carlton have a special relationship and like to rough house, but until he gets home from work Carlton is mine.

He's getting more and more comfortable by the day and we're enjoying seeing more of his personality come out. Our friends did a great job of raising him!

Meet Carlton.

This is the new addition to our family. We got him last night from some wonderful people who must've done something right in raising him, because he is such a sweetie. This is obviously a big transition for him, so he's been hiding most of the time.

Tonight, though, we got him out from behind the couch and onto the rug. He's been purring ever since, and is getting more comfortable by the minute. I'm sure he'll get into some trouble by the time I get home tomorrow. . He's sort of coming when we call him (and coax him) which is more than I expected out of a cat, too. Basically, he's a huge love bug, just like his owners said.

In other news, John is a total hypocrite. He has been working with Carlton more than I have. It's very adorable, and I have video proof, but have vowed to keep it in the vault.

More pictures to come. :)

100th Post!

This is my 100th post on this blog, so... Whoop Dee Doo! Ha. I am not fancy/creative/motivated enough to have a giveaway or special blog post, or "favorite posts" type thing.. so.

Instead, I will share my most recent creation. I really didn't modify it at all, and I can't take credit. I was trying to find a way to hide a litter box and ran across this post. I looked around my favorite online shopping sites and found that this was the best way (and best priced way) to go about it. So, my sister and I went to Ikea where I bought the piece, it took John about 3 minutes to cut out the piece, and took me about 10 minutes to assemble it. I think it fits well.

It's in the corner of our downstairs bathroom. The closet next to it houses our broom/mop/steam mop. This is the only room downstairs that we haven't painted. Too many turns.
Hopefully an out-of-the-way, quiet place for the cat. And why not put the cat bathroom in the human bathroom?
View from the door. A bit obvious but more subtle than a litter box.
 View from the hallway.
I'd like to get some hooks for the inside, but the box is long enough to hold the litter box, litter (probably get a container for it), the scoop, ziploc bags, and whatever else we need.
Top view. Can't see a thing!

What do you think? Will a cat buy it?
